Forestry

Forest products such as lumber and mill wastes can be burned to produce electricity or processed to produce ethanol. Mississippi's rich forestry industry could become a leading source for biomass used for biofuel production.

Currently in the Forestry Department at Mississippi State, research is being examined to determine the amount of available forest biomass in Mississippi. This information will be used to explore the use of forest biomass as a potential feedstock. Also,a website has been created to aid in disaster relief.
