Ramdeo Seepaul won 2nd place in a poster competition under the Crops Division at the American Society of Agronomy Southern Branch Annual Meetings in Orlando, Florida, 7-10 February, 2010. The Southern Regional Branch of ASA comprises the states/countries of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virgin Islands, Virginia and Texas. His research was co-advised under Drs. Raja Reddy and Bisoondat Macoon.
Ms Maia Mula, a PhD. candidate in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, won first place ( $300) in the Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry division poster competition at the Joint ASA/GSA (American Society of Agronomy/Geological Society) meeting in Houston, TX, 5-9 October, 2008. There were 25 entries from universities including Texas A and M, Ohio State University and Cornell University. The poster is entitled "Bacterial composition and diversity during early decomposition of rice straw".
